Who we are
Source Map is a trading name of Digital Asset Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 05984983. Registered office: 51 High Street, Arundel, BN18 9AJ. VAT number GB903646138. Digital Asset Ltd is responsible for the personal data described here. To reach us about it, email hello@sourcemap.news, use the contact form, or write to our registered office.
What we keep when you visit
No cookies, no tracking scripts and no advertising. Our server keeps an ordinary log of each request: the page asked for, the time, the browser or agent name it sent, the page you came from, and your network address with its last part removed before it is written down (for example 203.0.113.0 rather than 203.0.113.7). We never combine these into a profile of you.
Why
To see what gets read, find and fix errors, and keep the site secure. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the site; we think that is balanced because we keep so little and shorten addresses at once.
What we keep when you send us something
What you type into the tip and feedback form, the time, the same shortened address and your browser or agent name. We use it to read and act on what you send. If you leave contact details we may reply. We never publish what you sent as you sent it.
What we keep when you email us
Your message, your email address and anything you attach, so that we can answer you. Email to hello@sourcemap.news is held in our helpdesk.
How long
Server logs: up to 14 days, then deleted; we keep only daily totals after that. Tips and feedback: until we have dealt with them, and at most 12 months. Email: as long as we need it to deal with what you asked, and we will delete it sooner if you ask.
Who else handles it
Cloudflare carries traffic to the site and forwards our email, DigitalOcean hosts our server in London, and Teamwork runs the helpdesk that holds email sent to us. We do not sell or share your data with anyone else.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to our using it. Please complain to us first through the contact form; you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
